Modes is the fabric shop in Midtown know by the rest of the world from it's go-to shop on Project Runway. It was the biggest fabric warehouse I have ever seen! We had just over an hour here and would have only looked at probably one tenth of the fabrics. What was fantastic was the overall quality of the fabrics for such a large store - there were thousands of rolls of silk and silk blends, cashmeres, leathers, fur, designer patterns... I could've spent days there!

Who are you and what do you do?
That's a question I find myself asking myself rather frequently. Can I give you an answer in 50 years time?

What gets you up in the morning?
A voice asking me "Who are you and what do you do?"

What inspires your work?
People inspire me. The kick I get out of playing live shows - nerves must inspires me. I'm usually curious about new things and using new things to revise my thinking on old things. Lance Ravenswood's artwork inspires me.

What is your most exciting achievement?
Well... in the past 12 months it'd have to be my beard. I didn't know I could grown one. And strangely it grows in this Errol Flynn/Robin Hood/Swashbuckling style where I don't have to shave and shape it. I just don't grown hair on those parts of me face. I suppose if you encountered me in the wild then that's what I'd look like.

Oh... and I guess the other exciting achievement has been completing the album Nocturnes and doing so with a bloody good group of collaborators. Everyone involved in the album made superb contributions... and that's inherently inspiring.

Tell us about your school ball outfit.
1st ball was the classic tuxedo with burgandy bow tie and cumberland. Classic.
2nd and 3rd year ball was me going opshop chic with assortments of various suits found. Ramshackle.

Make us a playlist of three songs you have on repeat at the moment...
Little Blu house - Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Summertime in England - Van Morrison
Here & Now - Terror of the Deep

All of these tracks have been whirling around in my mind for a month or two now.

I hadn't heard of whoopie pies until my recent trip to NYC, but all of a sudden they're everywhere. For those who aren't yet familiar with these treats with the silly name, they are basically 2 layers of what can best be described as a cake and biscuit hybrid, sandwiched with a creamy filling. They seem to be rivaling the cupcake over in the States, but back home they're probably more in competition with the French macaron. These things are delicious. Not to mention much easier to make than a macaron and way cooler than cupcakes.
